All it took, to make her way onto the crew of the Greatship Athens was thousands of hours in simulators, dedication, and pawning or selling every scrap of her old life in order to forge a new one. But though she’s made her way onboard with faked papers, leaving her old life – and scandals – behind isn’t so easy.
She may have just combined all the dangers of her former life, with all the perils of the new . . .

Boken inleder med att sänka förväntningarna ordentligt. Förutsättningarna känns igen, igen, och författandet känns trevande och styltigt, nästan som ett första försök att skriva en riktig roman. Bl a förvirras man som läsare av att karaktärer ibland benämns med förnamn, ibland efternamn, i samma stycke. Nybörjare är han dock inte, författaren har skrivit flera andra böcker tidigare. Det blir också betydligt bättre ju längre fram historien utvecklar sig, både skrivarhantverket och handlingen mognar längs vägen. Mot slutet har vi fått serverad en gedigen byggd story, som inte är förutsägbar, karaktärer som känns trovärdiga och oftast intressanta, och en värld med likaledes trovärdiga förutsättningar.
